Global Women Partners in Philanthropy
History

Global Women Partners in Philanthropy was initiated as a research project at the Marc Lindenberg Center for Humanitarian Action, International Development and Global Citizenship in the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington in January 2010. The Lindenberg Center has an established history of partnering with foundations to pursue its mission.  The focus of this project - women’s philanthropy - is a major means of promoting civil society and creating a more sustainable and humane world.  The project benefited from the Center and the Evans School who provided the initial infrastructure - research assistants, support staff, university facilities and institutional knowledge - for a project that is global in scope. In January 2012 GWPP extended its collaboration to the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Non Profits and Philanthropy in the Evans School.

GWPP will continue to work cooperatively with the University and the Evans School on curricula and training to help build effective philanthropy infrastructure in China and around the globe.

In January, 2012, GWPP became a program of the Seattle International Foundation. GWPP will continue to work cooperatively with the Evans School and UW from its new home at SIF. GWPP and SIF share a common mission to increase and enhance international philanthropy efforts from their base in the Pacific Northwest.
