Global Women Partners in Philanthropy
2012 Action Plan

1.      Develop a ‘Made in China’ version of the WWF model of collective giving and have one or two pilot projects committed and underway in 2012.

We found keen interest in the collective giving model.  To paraphrase one foundation executive: “You have a unique niche, there is nothing like this in China today!  Women now have money, yet they haven’t had the experience in using it in strategic philanthropic ways. Your successful model could inspire a whole new era.”  Our objective for 2012 is to find a partner or partners and initiate one or more pilot projects.

 2.       Facilitate a collaboration between the UW Evans School and a Chinese University to offer programs in professional and leadership management training for NGO/foundation leaders and donors.

Time and again we heard the comment that current academic strengths are theoretical, not practical. Universities are very good on defining why people should be engaged in philanthropy, but they have limited programs delivering practical guidance on how to manage a foundation, how to build organizational capacity or how to execute a successful granting process. This opportunity is one that the UW Evans School is well-suited to pursue.  In 2012, we will support the UW Evans School in exploring a partnership, collaboration or exchange with a university to develop an education initiative that can address these critical needs.
